I'm so happy I could SING!

AMG, GUISE! GUESS WHUT?? ZOMG – hordies can be furbolgs nao!

Listen: when I made the decision to faction transfer, I put off bringing my main for ages. What was the issue? Well, I’ll tell you, friends, it was the furbolg stick. Dartol’s Rod of Transformation is still my absolute favoritest toy in the the whole game. If you do the quest Raene’s Cleansing in Astranaar*, a very long chain, and don’t turn in the quest at the very end, you get the nifty stick that turns you into a furbolg. I did this quest on every alli toon I ever raised, and it about broke my heart to lose it on my main. In the end, the desire to raid overshadowed the desire to keep the stick, and I did move my druid over.

I have pined for that furbolg stick ever since. It’s true! Seriously: Best. Toy. In the whole game. Just sayin’.

So! When in the middle of BWD last night our RL says, “Look at Howie!” I nearly peed my pants – ZOMG he was a furbolg! I squealed, swear to dog. And right after raid, I teleported to Moonglade, like all good druids are taught to do at a young age.

Last night we finally got the Critter Kill Squad achievement. To say that this was a long (and slightly tedious) task is an understatement. There just aren’t that many people in our guild, and 50,ooo of anything is a lot of things to kill*.

A lot of times I’m prone to tell people that I am a lucky kind of girl. But this one wasn’t about luck at all. It was about perseverance, pure and simple.
You may or may not be able to read the print on that panel. It states that I have killed 28.8k critters. I believe that the count started with the Cata release. If the count started before that, the difference is negligible – I never killed a critter on purpose, except for that frog killing quest in Dustwallow.** I like the critters. They squeak when they die, too, and that’s pretty offputting.

Usually I am not that much of a scamp. Rarely am I any good at being funny on purpose. I am, tho’ pretty playful,* and sometimes the moment just takes me.

Exhibit A:

On the way to Atremedes in Blackwing last night, we wiped on the trash around the ledge** – specifically the monster with the pair of corehounds that stun and silence. The second wipe took a little longer…

So, you ever have one of those days when your expectations just don’t live up to the reality of the situation? Well, our guild had one of those last night. It was OSM.

So, we managed to finally kill Maloriak last night. After many a wipe on this guy, phase two finally clicked, and we got him down – WOOT! It was even a fairly clean kill. And to boot, we killed him pretty early, with an entire hour left before the end of raid time. What to do, what to do?

We headed to Bastion of Twilight* to pick at the trash** in hopes of an epic drop (I think there was mention of a dagger?) and to see wtf about Halfus, whose fight I only understand to be something like release the dragons, kill the dragons, kill the boss.

And then… well, things got surprising.

Huh. Well, wouldja look at that.

(Headsup – I’ve only seen P1 of this fight so far, which is to say, the P2 part is cobbled together from some vids of other people killing this boss.)

Ok, so. Maloriak has two phases. P1 is all about him throwing different colored vials in the cauldron behind him, and some stuff happens when he does. You’ll either get red or blue first, then the other, and green is always third. This goes on to 25% Read the rest of this entry »

Oh, little stone cootie, how I loff you!

Tiny Shale Spider pet was an overnight success that took weeks. First of all, the bug drops off a rare stone spider named Jadefang – who has, like, a six-hour spawn or something. And every hunter I know would like to tame her. Which is to say, there’s almost always a hunter waiting at her spawn point. Which can only be reached by means of a quest item from a daily that seems to be available once, maybe twice, a month at best (at least on my server).

But the good news is, the pet is a 100% drop. So here’s how you do it:

I know you were wondering, so I went ahead and did the research for you.
This is a lightwell. A priest makes it, and it will heal you up when you are running out of fire. You don’t need to lose your dps target or anything – you just click on it as you run past. You don’t even have to run terribly close to it.

Click on the picture and go look at this comic – I laughed until I choked, swear to dog.

For reference.

(The usual disclaimer: I have not yet personally seen this fight. What you find below is my attempt to ready myself, as ranged dps, to not suck at for this fight. Information from people who did do this fight at the bottom. Extra special ♥s, stars, and unicorns to the people at Tankspot for being some of those people.)

Ok, so that business out of the way, on to what to expect from the Omnomnom Omnotron Defense System:

I was recently asked about some stick raid members. Specifically a reindeer* moonkin. So, um, I thought it might be best to make you a diagram:
