This weekend we purchased: 2 cans of Hilti foam, a 40# pumpkin, some yellow thread, a heavy duty boxcutter, some quilt facing, a 2 garlands of silk leaves,* and an iron.
Man Cub shall be the fallout boy (from his fave video game this week).
I’m working on his shirt – which turned out to be far more complicated than I had originally anticipated. Not my bestest sewing ever, but I think it’ll work out ok. I just need to put the 101 on the back, and he should be good to go in a pair of jeans.
Jaquelyn shall be Babe, as in the Blue Ox. I’m working on her horns. This also was a little more complicated than anticipated. Spray foam FTW! I set them up yesterday, and after a night on the table hardening up, I got to spend a guilt-free day watching Battlestar Galactica episodes and getting crafty \o/
Which yielded this –
They’re not done at all – they need a lot of work still, including a treatment of tissue paper and glue to make them smooth, and a good paint job.** Also, Jaquelyn requested that the horns be tipped n gold,*** which we can totally do. The tricky part is going to be finding some way to affix the horns to her head. I’ll have to pick up a couple of alice bands this week and see what we can come up with.
Easily, this is my favorite part of the year.
